The latest version of Amaya that I have tried is 6.1. I have some
reservations, but it looks very promising. A good solid technological
foundation, and I like the two views of WYSIWYG and source-code, that
can synchronise.
Amaya v6.1 is not very good at displaying SVG graphics. There are
tools for creating SVG as well, but again not very good.
Table creation is awful.
I expect that the main problems with SVG etc. will get fixed, and I
will look in periodically to see if it can get to a point where I can
actually use it. It is open-source and multi-platform, so I can use it
on both Windows and Linux.
Update: v6.4 crashes something awful. I'm still waiting for it to get
to a point where it can actually be used.
