Für das
eDonkey Network existieren mittlerweile zahlreiche Tools, die
verschiedene Defizite der Original-Clients
und -Server beheben, die Benutzung
vereinfachen oder neue Funktionen bieten.

sometimes eDonkey crashes and leaves one or more .part.met files
in your temp folder damaged (deleted or zero size). If this happens,
the file will disappear from your download list and you can't
continue downloading it. However, if the corresponding .part file
survives (which is usually the case), you can use ed2k_recovermet to
recover your download partly and re-create the .part.met file, so
the donkey can continue the download.
CopyMet,

CopyMet läd vor jedem Start von eDonkey von einer frei
definierbaren Adresse eine Server.met und erstellt ein Backup der
alten. Ausserdem erstellt das Programm Sicherheitskopien von den
".part.met", so dass sie jederzeit wieder im "temp"-Ordner
wiederhergestellt werden können.
FileCut;

Durch einen Bug in eDonkey werden die ".part" Dateien, in denen
die Downloads temporär gespeichert werden, manchmal riesengroß.
FileCut bringt diese Dateien wieder auf Normalgrößte zurück.

Kommandozeilen-Tools
ed2k_hash,

This tool takes a file and calculates the 'eDonkey hash' that you
need if you want to create ed2k:// links to that file. It also spits
out the complete ed2k://link in the end and appends it to the file
'ed2k_links.txt' for easier copy-and-paste later on.
ed2k_list,
users.aber.ac.uk/tpm01/ed2k_tools/ed2k_list.html.
this tool creates a web page with ed2k:// links to all your
shared files. This is useful for people who want to make their own
files (e.g. their band's mp3s) publicly available but don't have a
dedicated web server with 24/7 connection to the internet available
for this purpose. Now you can easily create ed2k:// links to your
files and copy them to your webpage. This way a simple click on the
ed2k:// link will start eDonkey2000 and add the file to its download
list. Of course this only makes sense if you are regularly using
eDonkey2000, so the files are actually available on a regular basis.
ed2k_slist,

This tool takes your server.met file and checks which servers are
dead and which are alive. It then creates a new server.met file
which contains only working servers. It makes sense to use this tool
every time before you start the eDonkey 2000 client.
On request this tool also creates a web page with ed2k:// links
to all working servers

release now, which has all the basic functionality you need and some
extras (extend search, dns server lookup etc).
