Übersicht
MiKTeX is an up-to-date implementation of TeX and related programs
for Windows (9x/NT/2000) on x86 systems. TeX is a typesetting system
invented by D. E.
Knuth.
Its main features include:
- easy installation and configuration
- complete distribution
- fast previewer
- open source
The MiKTeX distribution consists of the following components:
- TeX, pdfTeX, e-TeX, pdf-e-TeX, Omega
- Dvipdfm: converts TeX output into PDF
- MetaPost: converts picture specifications into PostScript
commands
- Standard TeX macro packages (including LaTeX)
- Type1 fonts: Computer Modern, URW (Adobe replacements)
- Yap: a viewer for TeX output
- TeXify: a TeX compiler driver
- MiKTeX Options: assists in configuring TeX
- Lots of utilities: BibTeX, MakeIndex, texindex u.a.
