Übersicht
eZ publish des norwegischen Softwareherstellers eZ System
ist ein in PHP implementierte Content Management System (CMS),
das sich durch ein vollständig anpassbares Content- Modell auszeichnen
und sich so als Grundlage für die Entwicklung professioneller
Web-Applikationen eignen soll.
Standard-Funktionen eines CMS wie die Veröffentlichung von
Nachrichten, E-Commerce- und Foren-Funktionen sind von Hause aus
vorhanden. Die Bibliotheken von eZ Publish können auch allein als
Grundlage für Plattform- und Datenbank-unabhängige Applikationen genutzt
werden.
Das Browser- basierte System erlaubt benutzerdefinierte Content-
Klassen und Objekte und bietet unter anderem Funktionen wie ein
rollenbasiertes Rechtesystem, Versionskontrolle, Workflow- Management,
grundlegende E-Commerce- Funktionen, Unterstützung für mehrsprachige
Inhalte sowie Unicode, eine fortschrittliche Template- Engine,
Suchmaschine und eine Bibliothek zur Kommunikation via SOAP; darüber
hinaus existiert ein SDK.

Aktuelle Version:
- 3.2 (Release: 09/2003).
Neu dazugekommen ist ein Benachrichtigungssystem, mit dem Anwender
über Updates in vorher definierbaren Bereichen informiert werden.
Das "look and feel" des Administrationsinterface wurde mit der neuen
Version verbessert und stellt sich nun aufgeräumter dar. Das
Dokumentenmanagement wird nun mit Funktionen von WebDAV unterstützt.
Zudem gibt es eine Indizierung von Binärdateien und einen neuen
Setup-Wizard. Zudem sollen erhebliche
Geschwindigkeitssteigerungen erreicht worden sein, neue Variablen
für Template- Funktionen wurden integriert und Übersetzungen für
Italienisch, Dänisch und Ungarisch kamen dazu. Auch bei anderen
Sprachen wurden Verbesserungen vorgenommen.
