Übersicht
Die indonesische Regierung produziert eine eigene GNU/Linux-
Distribution, die im August 2002 offiziell vorgestellt wurde.
Aus der Selbstdarstellung:
»At the moment we have chosen the GNU/ Linux as the
platform, due to the possibility, and the cost to provide a complete
desktop solution in Indonesia language. We provide and distribute
the CD, the manual (it is about 10 books). And we also introduce the
Open Source License (GPL, BSD) to the government institutions.
During August 2001 - December 2001, we performed the translation of
KDE 2.x (the Help files and also the po files). And we built a
distribution. It is called WINBI. Since we identified that the eGov
offices need a groupware solution,we also developed Kantaya (Kantor
Maya - Virtual Office). The result of translation works will be used
as the basic in performing the next translation work in Indonesia«.
