The GNOPPIX project proudly announces the release of version
0.6.0-beta1 of the GNOPPIX linux live cd. Version 0.6 comes with
Gnome 2.4 Woody backports.Mit der Beta 1 von Gnoppix 0.6 ist
jetzt eine neue Version der an Knoppix angelehnten Linux-Live-CD
Gnoppix erschienen. Diese bringt einen umfangreich
ausgestatteten GNOME-Desktop und basiert auf Debian GNU/Linux
3.0 alias Woody. Die neue Version wartet aber mit einem Backport
der aktuellen GNOME-Version 2.4 auf.
Zur Hardware-Erkennung setzt Gnoppix auf das von Progeny
entwickelte Discover statt auf Red Hats Kudzu Projekt, das unter
anderem bei Knoppix zum Einsatz kommt. Nach Ansicht der
Gnoppix-Entwickler ist Discover stabiler und portabler, was es
vereinfachen soll, eine PowerPC-Version von Gnoppix zu pflegen.
Zudem bringt Gnoppix diverse GNOME-Erweiterungen mit, darunter
GNOME Fifth Toe.
