Smart Media- Karten,
als resistenter gegen Bitfehler, da sie über eine integrierte
Fehlerkorrektur verfügen.
Die SD
Association gibt an, dass weltweit mehr als 500 Geräte den
SD-Card-Standard unterstützen und somit auch mit der 1-GByte-Karte
verwendet werden können. So finden sich Steckplätze für SD-Cards in
Digitalkameras, Druckern, Handys, Laptops und PDAs.

aus; die Preisempfehlung für den Endkunden beläuft sich auf knapp 500
US-Dollar.
Panasonic
Panasonic stellte CES Anfang 2003 in Las Vegas eine SD-Card mit einer
Speicherkapazität von 1 GByte vor. Die Speicherkarte soll im Herbst 2003
auf den Markt kommen.
Die 1-GByte-SD-Card soll eine Datenrate von bis zu 20 MByte pro
Sekunde erreichen und damit einen möglichst schnellen Zugriff auf die
auf der Speicherkarte befindlichen Daten gewährleisten.
